Mission
The fund's primary mission is to create an inclusive and supportive environment for women in sailing, fostering a more diverse and equitable community. It provides financial relief for unforeseen costs related to participation in sailing events, training, equipment maintenance, and other essential activities that may arise unexpectedly. In addition, the fund aims to remove financial barriers for women with limited resources by offering grants and scholarships to support their entry into and advancement within the sport of sailing.
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Key Objectives
- Unanticipated Expenses: The fund assists with unexpected financial needs such as emergency repairs, or other costs that may arise during the course of a sailing season. This ensures that women do not have to forgo important opportunities due to financial challenges.
- Support for Low-Income Women: The fund provides grants and scholarships to help cover the costs of sailing education, training, and competition for women who are economically disadvantaged. This makes it possible for women from all backgrounds to engage in sailing without being limited by financial barriers.
- Building a Stronger Community: By offering financial support, the fund helps foster a more inclusive and vibrant sailing community where women of all ages and backgrounds can connect, learn, and grow in the sport.
How It Works
The Women's Sailing Support Fund is fueled by donations, fundraising events, and partnerships with organizations that share our vision of empowering women in sailing. All funds are allocated through a transparent and straightforward application process. Individuals seeking assistance can apply for support based on their specific needs, whether they are dealing with unexpected expenses or need financial help to cover membership fees towards educational partners. A selection committee reviews each request and determines the best course of action to ensure the fund is used effectively.

Make check payable to Santa Cruz Women’s Sailing and mail to 3026 Atherton Drive, Aptos CA 95003, or give in person to one of our board members.
- We also use Zeffy to collect payment. Zeffy's 100% free platform for nonprofits allows us to fundraise at no cost. They are entirely funded by voluntary contributions and an amount will be suggested to you before you complete your payment.
